See ya’ in 2011
Remember back in 2006 when Wesley Snipes was arrested for not filing tax returns (from 1999 to 2004)? Turns out the government doesn’t like that. Late today, a federal judge sentenced Wesley to three years in prison for tax evasion — the maximum possible sentence. Nathan Hochman, an official at the US Department of Justice Tax Division, told the media:
“Snipes’ long prison sentence should send a loud and crystal clear message to all tax defiers that if they engage in similar tax defier conduct, they face joining him and his co-defendants … as inmates in prison.”
IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman added:
“The law is very clear: people must pay their taxes. There is no secret formula that eliminates a person’s tax obligations, nor are there any special exceptions.”
Who’s gonna get all the sweet roles in Hollywood now that Wesley’s going away for three years? Oh, right, still not him.
NOTE: Tack on a fourth year and we’d be just about even for The Fan. Seriously, that movie fucking sucked.
CURRENTLY SHITTING HIS PANTS: Joe Francis
UPDATE: Bump for the morning peeps who may have missed this
